Artists Statement

 

 

I am inspired by the forms around me, plants, insects and the sea shore.

I respond to my environment and am always open to spontaneous finds or observations.

I like to experiment using different materials combining them to achieve a sensitive decorative quality.

My work has a direct contact with nature whether in an obvious way or sometimes more subtle use of texture and pattern.

 

I work mainly in silver and gold although I use semi precious stones and pearls. Some of my work calls for the use of textiles and other materials.

I am always experimenting and recently have been exploring the potential of casting; I like the idea of incorporating cast objects into my pieces.

2007 - 2010

I am a self employed jeweller and a part time lecturer at Coleg Menai

Judge for Arts and Craft , Anglesey Show.

 

2007

I started my jewellery making business

I completed a three year part time HND in design Crafts at Coleg Menai.

I attended Edinburgh College of Art Summer School

 

 

2001-2007

I worked at Tyddyn Mon day care centre as a training officer with responsibility for arts and crafts.

I helped organize artists in residence and coordinating a sculpture program at the farm.

I have had to negotiate with the arts council Wales and Cywaith Cymru on selection, sighting and building of the works.
